Bajura declared Diclofenac Free

Bajura, Dec 30: The District Livestock Service Office Bajura and Nepal Bird Conservation Association of Kathmandu jointly declared Bajura as a diclofenac free district on Monday.The campaign against diclofenac is for the awareness and conservation of vulture. The Association declared the district as the diclofenac free after the study that it has not used the drug which is fatal to vultures. Diclofenac is however used for the treatment of livestock. Nepal is a home to nine species of vulture.

Field officer of the Association, Bhupal Nepal said the conservation of vultures help maintain environment balance. He added that Nepal has six indigenous and three itinerant species of vultures. However, more than 95 percent vultures have vanished.
