Jumla, Oct. 30: With the down in temperature in the Mountainous districts, animals in most of the VDCs in Jumla district have suffered from disease of foot and mouth rusting in the recent days. Spread of the disease has affected more than 50 per cent of the total animals in Raralihi, Kudari, Malikathata, Ghodemahadev, Tamti and Tatopani among others VDCs. It is said that the farmers are worried fearing that they would face more difficulties in sowing barley and wheat as their oxen readied for ploughing suffered from the foot and mouth disease.
Acting Senior Livestock Development Officer of District Livestock Office, Jumla, Govinda Bahadur Mahat, however, has suggested the farmers not to worry about the disease but to pay more attention to the cleanliness of livestock’s foot and mouth. At present, different service centres, agro vets and District Livestock Office are providing services. The Office has also said that FMD vaccine against the disease would be brought from the regional directorate office if the demands were made from the farmers.
