Minister Gajurel underscores commercialization of agriculture

hari gajurelKathmandu, Oct 28: Minister for Agriculture Haribol Gajurel has lauded the Project for Agriculture Commercialization and Trade (PACT), saying that the Project was a model for commercialization in agriculture in the country. PACT is a project being executed by the Ministry of Agriculture Development in support of the World Bank since 2009 with an objective to improve the competitiveness of smallholder farmers and agribusiness sector in selected commodity value chains in 75 districts in the country.

Speaking at a programme to disseminate about the PACT today in the capital city, Minister Gajurel suggested the concerned officials to study the sub-projects categorically and take its conclusion as the guidelines for future. He was of the belief that further success in the Project could be achieved if the monitoring and evaluation of the PACT project was to be made more effective.
Similarly, Secretary of the MoAD Uttam Kumar Bhattarai expressed his belief that since the PACT contributed in maintaining the purity of the food item, production of quality food item would be further eased off. On the occasion, Dr Indra Kanta Jha, Project Director, shared about the current undertakings of the Project. The programme was attended by the staffers of the MoAD and Project staffs. The Project provides complementary grant to the service-seekers ranging from USD 10,000 to USD 100,000 under.
