Former secretary Shrestha becomes first Nepali to get Global Merit Award

Kathmandu, June 20: Former Agriculture Secretary Dr Mukti Narayan Shrestha has been awarded with the Global Merit Award in the 55th Congress of World Veterinary held in Thailand. Dr Shrestha is the first Nepali to get the Global Merit Award.

Dr Shrestha was given away the award by the special royal representative of Thailand, Privy Councilor, by lauding Shrestha’s contributions in the field. Some 2,700 representatives from 70 countries across the globe took part in the Congress.

Shrestha is the founder of Nepal’s first veterinary clinic at Pulchowk, Patan, established 37 years ago.

He is also the Chairman of Veterinary Practitioners’ Association, Nepal, and the life member of Nepal Veterinary Association.
