Collective efforts stressed against bird flu

Birgunj, June 22: Integrated efforts and coordination among the stakeholders have been stressed to do away with the possible spread of avian flu in Parsa district. At an interaction programme organised by the District Livestock Office here Sunday, the participants suggested adopting a high level of vigilance and special precaution against bird flu. Chief of Office Dr Ramparikshan Sah said that the officials have worked to forward the job as a campaign against the bird flu. Dr Sah also urged not to import the banned poultry items and inform the nearest livestock service centres if a large number of birds and chicken were dead.

He also said that imports of poultry and poultry related items from India are banned with the support from the local administration and security bodies. Likewise, Chief District Officer of Parsa, Keshavraj Ghimire, said that the awareness raising programmes should be conducted in a massive way to avert the bird flu. He also pledged full support from the administration to fight the bird flu. Veterinarian Dr Baijulal Gupta and Superintendent of Police (SP) Dibesh Lohani also expressed their opinions at the programme.
