Bhaktapur, Nov 23: Minister for Agriculture Development Haribol Gajurel has said the agriculture sector was also not free from the influence of the mafia. Speaking in a programme organised Monday by the Rafat Sanchar Club here, he said the government would provide subsidies to the small farmers to prod them towards modernisation. He added that the government was also planning to purchase the organic manure from the farmers and distributing it.
The Agriculture Development Minister shared that the government would now arrange for appropriate market and storage for agriculture produce keeping in mind the middlemen reaping benefits instead of farmers due to the lack of proper market management. He said the government will bring a policy by which the country would be made self-dependent in agriculture thereby stopping the exodus of the youth to foreign countries for employment. Regarding the border blockade imposed by India on Nepal, he said this step by India will not only harm Nepal but India also.
