Rampur (Palpa), August, 12 : The farmers who have insured their livestock have been receiving maternity expenses for their cattle. The Sitakunda Dairy Producers Cooperatives Institute Rampur distributed livestock maternity expenses to the owners of 64 cattle heads here on Tuesday. Those included 26 buffaloes, 25 cows and 13 pigs.
Some of the farmers also received infertile compensation for their livestock that could not bear offspring. As an incentive, the farmers were given Rs. 500 as maternity expenses, said the Cooperatives Manager Hari Prasad Sigdel. Senior livestock development officer at the District Livestock Service Office Tulasiram Bhandari lauded the noble initiative and went on to claim that it is the first of its kind in the country. This will also encourage farmers to insure their livestock.
