Dozens of cattle dead in Jajarkot

Jajarkot, Aug. 18: Dozens of goats and sheep died of unidentified diseases in the remote Rokayagaun VDC in the northern belt of Jajarkot district. The farmers said that the diseases spread since the first week of July claimed the huge number of goats and sheep in ward no. 1, 2 and 3 in the VDC. Animal husbandry is the major occupation of the locals in the northern part of the district.

Chief of the District Livestock Office, Dr Guru Prasad Khakural, said that a team of veterinarians was sent to the affected areas along with the needed medicines and equipments for the treatment of the livestock. He said the team would confirm the diseases and would provide treatment based on the field reports. Meanwhile, more than five dozens of cattle died in different parts of the district due to the floods and landslides in the last month, Deputy Superintendent of Police Dan Bahadur Malla said.
