Wheat production down by 25 pc in Dhanusha

 Janakpurdham, May 28: Wheat production has slumped 25.5 per cent in Dhanusa district this year as the crop was lashed by heavy wind. The wheat production decreased as the crop was planted and harvested late due to unfavorable weather condition. Dhanusha reaped 75,000 metric tonnes of wheat worth Rs 645 million from 38,000 hectares of land, according to the District Agriculture Development Office, Dhanusha. The production was expected to be around 115,000 metric tonnes.

Around 100,800 metric tonnes of wheat was produced in 2014/15, said Surendra Goit, Programme Officer at the Office. The District has facility for irrigation at 28,000 hectares of land and 12,000 hectares of land depend on winter rain for irrigation.
