‘Ensure food supply to remote districts’

krishilogoKathmandu, May 25: The parliamentary committee on industry, commerce and consumer welfare has directed the Ministry of Supplies and Nepal Food Corporation to immediately ensure food supply to the remote districts which are hard hit by the drought.
At the meeting of the committee today, parliamentarians said the food grains should be supplied to the remote districts before monsoon. They expressed severe concern over government’s failure to tackle thriving black marketing. The committee Chairman Bhishmaraj Angdembe directed the Ministry of Supplies and Nepal Food Corporation to supply the food grains in the remote districts including Bajura of Karnali zone.
Committee members Lila Shrestha, Janak Budha, Rajya Laxmi Shrestha, Sitaram Bhandari, Anarkali Miya, Subash Sahi, Ramesh Lama and others demanded that government continued market monitoring, curb inflation and regularize the supply of cooking gas. The Ministry of Supplies is also directed to effectively conduct the market monitoring.
