Flowers worth Rs 25 million sold this Tihar

Kathmandu, Nov 15: Flowers worth Rs 25 million were sold during the Tihar festival this year.

The sale of flowers used to increase from 10 to 15 per cent every year during Tihar, but it was not so this year due to the border blockade and the Terai shutdown.

700 thousand garlands of marigold, globe amaranth and chrysanthemum were sold and the highest number sold was that of marigold. Some 400 thousand garlands of marigold were sold.

Seventy-five percent of the flowers were sold in the three districts of the Kathmandu Valley while the rest were sold in other major cities like Pokhara, Butwal and Dharan.
