Kathmandu, Oct 12: Minister for Agriculture Development Haribol Gajurel took charge at a function held at the Ministry of Agriculture Development in Singha Durbar today. On the occasion, the newly-appointed Agriculture Development Minister vowed to carry out result-oriented works rather than publicity-oriented ones. “Feudalism has been a hurdle in the modernization and commercialization of the agriculture sector in the country and land reform is needed to that end,” he said. He also said that he would work towards achieving self-reliance in agriculture.
Ministry Secretary Uttam Kumar Bhattarai and other employees welcomed Minister Gajurel to the Ministry. Secretary Bhattarai said there is a need of taking initiatives to stop the current ‘milk holiday’ that had to be announced as the Nepal Oil Corporation stopped supplying fuel needed for milk processing. Chief of the Planning Division at the Ministry Yogendra Kumar Karki and Administrative Division Chief Kashiraj Dahal among other officials briefed Minister Gajurel of the programmes of the Ministry.
