80 PER CENT POULTRY FARMERS RETURN BACK TO PROFESSION

Kathmandu, Jan 23: Out of the poultry farmers in Kathmandu valley, who were hit hard due to an epidemic of bird flu on last August, some 80 per cent have returned back to their profession. Though some people were compelled to adopt a new business after the bird flu recorded the loss of Rs 3 billion in Kathmandu valley, 80 per cent people have returned back to their profession.
Chairman of Poultry Farmers’ Association, Kathmandu, Ganesh Kunwar, said that the government has so far provided only Rs 250 million grant assistance to the victim farmers though the bird flu recorded the loss of Rs 3 billion in the Kathmandu valley. There are some 800 poultry farmers in Kathmandu and Bhaktapur districts.
