Panchthar, Jan 14: Vegetable production in Panchthar district went up this year as compared to last year. The district produced 7,686 metric tonnes of vegetables in the first six months of the fiscal year 2013/014 as against 7,222 in the same period in the current fiscal year 2014/2015, said Dilli Poudyal, Assistant Technical Officer at the District Agricultural Development Office, Panchthar. It is an increase of six per percent, Poudyal said.The vegetable production increased as it was cultivated in more land and the weather was favourable as compared to the last year, he added. Panchthar farmers cultivated vegetables on 597 hectares of land last year compared to 630 hectares this year, Assistant Technical Officer Poudyal said.
