Subsidized fertilizer sub-standard

Nawalparasi, Dec 17: The government-subsidized chemical fertilizers sent to farmers in district have been found sub-standard. The farmers have urged the government to take back the fertilizers delivered to them through Agriculture Inputs Company citing sub-standard quality. The subsidized chemical fertilizers which have been distributed to farmers through most of the cooperative organizations of the district are found to be dusty beyond their original structure. The farmers have also demanded necessary compensation of the loss caused due to the use of such sub-standard fertilizer.

“I have found the packets of chemical fertilizer, Urea, to be dusty which do not help our crops grow”, said Birendra Gupta, a local farmer who reached Parasi Adarsha Multi-purpose Cooperative Organization for lodging complaint on Sunday. “The fertilizer substance seems floury which is beyond its original form”, he added. Another farmer Ramweak Kebat said that the fertilizer is like powder so there may be financial irregularities in dispatching sub-standard fertilizer to farmers. The local farmers have demanded stern action against the responsible officer of the Agriculture Inputs Company for such irresponsible act.
