agriculture development office urges not to harvest rice

Rautahat, Oct. 16: The Agriculture Development Office Rautahat has urged farmers not to harvest rice immediately as the unseasonal rains due to the cyclone in India could reduce production.

Although the office had estimated that production will not decrease as the paddy crop was good this year, it could reduce production if it rained two to three more days continuously, said Senior Agriculture Development Officer of the office Rammilan Biswokarma.

Meanwhile, the two-day rains have caused delay for the farmers of the district to start winter vegetable farming.

It is difficult for digging field and vegetable farming will be delayed, said local farmer Min Prasad Mainali.  Winter vegetable nurseries are also destroyed by the rain
