Off season rain; both boon and curse for the farmers

Biratnagar, Oct 15: The off season rain that lashed various parts of the country including Morang since the past two days has come as both boon and curse to the peasants of this Terai region.  While the rain has destroyed crops planted late this year due to the delayed and inadequate rainfall, the same rain has again brought the dried paddy back to life, making it favourable to  plant rice of Agahani and the like species. Ram Chandra Pandit, a local peasant was of the opinion that the off season rain has offered a rice plantation opportunity twice over this year while the vegetable crops have been adversely affected by the unexpected downpour.
