Myagdi transacts meat and milk worth Rs. 60 m and Rs. 90 m

Babiyachaur, Aug. 17: Production of livestock related products has increased in Myagdi district.Milk, meat and egg production has increased in the district, said the District Livestock Service Office, Myagdi. Office Chief Senior Veterinary Doctor Dayaram Chapagain said milk production increased by 0.07 percent, meat by 0.4 percent, egg by 0.05 percent, wool by 0.39 percent and leather by 0.38 percent in the last fiscal year 2070- 71 BS.

            Last year, milk production was 5, 263 metric tonnes, and meat 1,797 metric tonnes. There is increasing trend of rearing goats, cows, buffaloes and chickens, said Chapagain. The district with a population of 113, 641, has a possibility of export of meat as its production is one kg more per person in the district. One person needs 57 liters of milk, 14 kg of meat and 48 eggs a year, said Chapagain.The office said Myagdi transacts meat worth Rs. 63.3 million and milk worth Rs. 94.9 million annually.-krishi Weekly
