National Poultry Day observed

Chitwan : The sixth National Poultry Day was celebrated in Chitwan by organizing various programmes. The National Poultry Day is being celebrated since 2070 BS, recalling Poush 17, 2017 BS, the day of beginning of modern poultry in Nepal.
On the occasion, eggs were distributed to patients undergoing treatment at BP Koirala Memorial Cancer Hospital and Bharatpur Hospital and to their relatives today. General Secretary at Nepal Poultry Entrepreneurs’ Forum, Dr Rewanta Kumar Bhattarai, said that the eggs were distributed to 2,000 people of the two hospitals.
Medical Superintendent at Bharatpur Hospital, Dr Krishna Poudel, informed about the importance of consuming egg while Physician of Bharatpur Hospital Dr Bhojraj Adhikari and Dr Krishna Sagar Poudel of Cancer Hospital shared information about the benefit from egg and chicken meat. Forum Chairperson Prof Dr Hom Bahadur Basnet, and General Secretary Dr Bhattarai shed light on the significance of the National Poultry Day.
Around 3.5 million eggs are produced in Nepal every day while 2.95 million chicks are being produced every day.
Similarly, 900,000 kilogrammes of chicken meat is being produced every day while 3,000 metric tonnes of poultry feed needed for chicken is being produced every day. The poultry business has given direct employment to 170,000 people. General Secretary Dr Bhattarai said that the poultry business has four per cent contribution to national income. RSS
