Livestock Development Ministry to promote livestock farming

Kathmandu, July 5: The Ministry of Livestock Development has taken steps to develop livestock farming commercially. The overall management of livestock farming will take place at all 744 local levels to keep up with the new federal setup.
According to the programme aimed at developing livestock production, various breeds of cross-breed animal and fodder will be distributed while treatment and check-ups will be provided for animals. The animals will also be vaccinated against diseases.
Farmers will be trained professionally on animal rearing or bird keeping at all seven provinces and on the market for the produce.
Talking to Rastriya Samachar Samiti, the Ministry’s Spokesperson Shyam Prasad Poudel informed that Rs 3.14 billion has been released for the programme.
The country could self-reliant on animal meat and milk if the produces are produced at home by increasing their production, he added.
