Attariya, Kailali, Aug. 12: Kailali district has become self-reliant in milk production. As farmers were attracted to milk production, the district became self-reliant in milk and has started to export, said the District Livestock Service Office, Kailali. The district now exports outside the district, said Livestock Service Office Chief Dr. Binaya Karn. Last year, the district produced 56,756 metric tonnes of milk. The national need of milk in average is 57 and Kailali district has 73.16 availability, thereby making it the self-reliant districtIt exports 2,000 to 2,500 liters of milk outside the districts mainly to Nepalgunj of Banke, said Dairy Development Project, Attariya.
