Jajarkot honey finds international market

Jajarkot : The honey produced at Kalpat of Nalgad municipality-1 here is to be exported to the international market.
A local Nahakuli Organic Herbal Agro Pvt Ltd is exploring the market for the honey harvested in this winter and arranging to export 2,000 kilogrammes of the same to Australia, America, Dubai and Korea.
Manager of the Pvt Ltd Hari Bahadur Budha said the Super World Traders has already assessed the quality and the weight of the honey for its export to the international market. He added that the honey has also been bottled and packaged for export.
According to him, only the consignment papers remained to be prepared from the Division Forest Office.
The Chief of the Nalgad Agriculture Branch Office, Mahesh Kumar Bista said honey production in Nalgad has increased by 15 per cent this year as compared to the last year. Honey production in the district last year was 20 metric tonnes.
The cost of honey has also increased with its growing demand in the market. The price has reached Rs 700 per kilogramme this year from Rs 500 per kilogramme last year.
The farmers in Jajarkot have been doing commercial bee-keeping since three decades and the Nalgad municipality has declared the Kalpat area as pocket area for honey production in a bid to promote commercial bee keeping.
