Pokhara, Aug. 10: Farmers of Manang district are happy as uwa, a high hilly foodgrain produced in Manang has found market in Kathmandu. Better for diabetes and high blood pressure patients, uwa is delicious and the Nepal Food Corporation Zonal Office, Pokhara purchased it and sold in Kathmandu. The Corporation purchased 10 metric tonnes of uwa and sold at Rs. 55 per kg in Kathmandu.
Farmers had cultivated it in 180 hectares of land as it got good market in Kathmandu, said Horticulture Officer of the District Agriculture Development Office, Manang, Ram Chandra Sedhain. It is produced in Upper Manang. Krishi Weekly
